DBT Skills Training Groups

Supportive family group therapy session taking place in the DBT Skills Training Groups program at Mt. Diablo Psychological Services in the San Francisco Bay Area.

At Mt. Diablo Psychological Services, we offer evidence-based DBT skills training groups in Contra Costa County. Our weekly virtual sessions, lasting 1.5 hours, focus on four main subject areas or modules. Each module consists of four to six weekly sessions dedicated to specific skills and growth.
 

Adult DBT Groups:

In our DBT skills training groups, we cover four main subject areas:

  1. Mindfulness: Gain control of your mind by cultivating mindful awareness. Learn to reduce suffering, increase happiness, and experience reality as it is.

  2. Distress Tolerance: Navigate difficult moments effectively through Crisis Survival Skills and Acceptance Skills. Build resilience without engaging in behaviors that worsen long-term outcomes.

  3. Emotional Regulation: Explore and transform your emotional responses. Learn to decrease emotional reactivity, understand your vulnerabilities, problem-solve, and engage in opposite action.

  4. Interpersonal Effectiveness: Master conflict management skills in relationships. Embrace the complexity and dynamics of interpersonal exchanges, accepting that others' behaviors make sense to them. Develop the necessary skills and practice to discuss and resolve conflicts.
